The Production Process of Plywood Cable Drums

The logs are soaked and heated to soften the wood before the veneers can be cut into suitable shapes and sizes. Depending on the type of wood, this procedure can take anywhere from 12 to 40 hours. The treated logs are put one at a time onto a peeler lathe, where they are fed to a full-length knife blade. This reduces the block's diameter to about 3 to 4 inches, and any remaining wood is removed from the lathe and replaced with a fresh log.

Following that, the veneer is cut into usable widths in accordance with industry standards for plywood sheets.

The veneer is frequently arranged according to its grade. This can be done by hand or with the use of optical scanners. To reduce the moisture content of the wood and shrink the veneer's size, it is stored in a low-humid area known as a dryer. The necessary portions of the veneer are then assembled using a waterproof adhesive. Normally, this is done manually. The plywood is then transferred to a hot press, which can handle roughly 20 to 40 sheets at a time, after the glue has been properly applied to the sheets. Extreme temperature and pressure values of roughly 200 psi and 310 °F are created by the hot press. This ensures proper contact between the veneer layers and allows the adhesive to perform to its full potential.

After that, the sheets are trimmed to precise widths and lengths using a series of precision saws. The grade, mill number, and other relevant information are stamped on the final plywood sheets. The cable reels can either be made from marine or shuttering plywood.

Plywood Cable Wire Drum

Is Plywood Tray an Essential Tool to Enhance the Protection of Wires and Cables

Plywood tray is an essential tool to enhance the protection of wires and cables, and it plays an important role in the wire and cable industry. A wire and cable conveyor pallet is a specially designed device used to transport and store wire and cable products safely and efficiently.

Plywood tray is made of strong and durable material with good pressure resistance and impact resistance. They are designed to ensure that wires and cables are protected from damage during transportation and storage and are protected from external environmental influences such as crushing, bending, stretching or moisture. Plywood tray can fix wire and cable products in a stable position to avoid shifting, breakage or other damage during transportation. This can ensure the integrity of wires and cables and reduce the loss rate of goods during transportation.

Using Plywood tray for transportation can reduce loading and unloading time and improve work efficiency. The advantage of the pallet design is that it can transport multiple cable products at the same time, effectively reducing the consumption of human resources and improving work efficiency. Plywood trays are designed in standard sizes, which makes them more tidy when stacked and stored, saving storage space. In addition, they can be stacked together to further save storage space.

Plywood trays are usually made of recyclable materials, which makes them more environmentally friendly and helps reduce resource waste.

Precautions for Using Cable Drums

When on the slope, the height of the latter should be higher than the person in front. The overall structure is plastic, metal facilities connecting, ensuring shaft hole requirements and conductive function, product parts can be disassembled and convenient. Generally, in accordance with customer equipment requirements, the work wheels that can be used as divergent strength accuracy are Line rice is long, which will deform flange due to large capacity. Essence The lead commander must be trained and obtained a passage. It is strictly forbidden to push the wooden cable drum directly from the transport vehicle. The wire rope is not allowed to penetrate directly into the inner hole of the wooden cable drum. Loading and unloading wooden cable drums generally use cranes. Put a steel shaft in the center hole of the wooden cable drum during the loading and unload, and put the steel wire rope on the two ends of the shaft. Some wooden cable drum center is a plate axis, with a groove on both ends of the shaft, which can be directly put on the wire rope to hang up.

Configuration of Cable Reels

There are five main arrangements for cable reels. Collapsible, portable, live connection, reel and cable assembly, and storage reel are some of the options.
Collapsible reels can be collapsed or broken down for bulk shipping or compact storage.
Portable reels can be moved by hand. A lifting handle is included in the package.
Connection hardware is installed on live connection reels to allow electricity to pass through while the cable is still on or partially on, the reel.
A reel assembly consists of a reel, a wire, and any features that may be installed on the cable. One electrical cord on a reel with a light connected is an example.
A storage reel transports items other than cable or hose, such as paper or plastic.

Manufacturing Process of Plywood Cable Drums

Material Selection
The first step in manufacturing plywood reels and wooden cable drums is to select the right materials. The primary material used for plywood reels and wooden cable drums is plywood. The plywood used in the manufacturing process must be of high quality and strength to ensure the durability of the product.

Plywood Cutting
Once the plywood has been selected, the next step is to cut it into the required sizes and shapes. Plywood sheets are typically cut into circular shapes for making plywood reels and wooden cable drums. The cutting process is done using a circular saw or a CNC machine.

Plywood Bending
After the plywood has been cut, it needs to be bent into the desired shape. The plywood is bent using a hydraulic press or a steam-bending machine. The plywood is then left to dry to maintain its shape and strength.

Assembly
The next step in the manufacturing process is the assembly of the plywood reels and wooden cable drums. The plywood circles are glued together to form the body of the drum. The drum is then reinforced with wooden supports to add strength and durability.

Finishing
The final step in the manufacturing process is finishing the plywood reels and wooden cable drums. The drums are sanded to create a smooth surface and then painted or stained to protect the wood and enhance its appearance.

How to Maintain Plywood Cable Drums

Cleaning

Clean your Plywood cable drums regularly to ensure its surface is clean. You can use clean water and neutral detergent to scrub the surface of the tray; avoid using corrosive detergents.

Dry

Keep Plywood tray dry. A humid environment may cause the plywood to absorb moisture and expand, affecting the stability and load-bearing capacity of the cable drums.

Avoid severe vibrations

Plywood tray are sensitive to severe vibrations and impacts. During the handling and stacking process, impact and excessive vibration of the cable drums should be avoided as much as possible to prevent damage or deformation of the plywood cable drums.

Avoid overloading

Avoid exceeding the load capacity of your Plywood cable drums. When stacking and moving items, always ensure that you do not exceed the load rating of the cable drums. Overuse may cause the cable drums to break or bend.

Regular Inspections

Regularly check the condition of your Plywood tray. Check the surface of the cable drums for obvious wear, cracks or deformation. If a tray is found to be damaged or unsuitable for use, it should be replaced in time.

Storage

Store Plywood tray properly and avoid direct contact with the ground or humid environment. Cable drums racks or spacers can be used to increase ventilation and moisture-proofing between the cable drums and the floor.

Repair or replace

If necessary, promptly repair or replace Plywood tray that are damaged, deformed or have reduced load-bearing capacity. Avoid using cable drums with visible damage to ensure safe handling operations.

How Should Electrical Cable Drums Be Stored

Indoor vs. Outdoor

Determine whether the cable drums are designed for indoor or outdoor use. Different storage conditions may apply based on this distinction.

Suitable Ground

Store cable drums on firm and well-drained ground to prevent moisture buildup and potential damage to the drums.

Protection from Moisture

If storing outdoors, plywood and wooden drums should be protected from moisture to prevent swelling or warping.

Sunlight Protection

Shield the cable from direct sunlight to prevent UV damage, which can degrade the insulation over time.

UV and Weathering Protection

Use protective lagging or covering to shield the cable and drums from UV radiation and weathering effects, especially for outdoor storage.

Water Ingress Prevention

Seal any exposed cable ends or openings in the drums to prevent water ingress, which can lead to corrosion or electrical hazards.

Mechanical Protection

Take precautions to protect the cable from mechanical damage, such as impact or abrasion, during storage.

Proper Orientation

Store drums on their edges rather than on the flanges to prevent deformation and maintain stability.

Securing Drums

Ensure that drums are securely stored and prevented from rolling into each other, as misalignment can cause damage to both the drums and the cable.
